Sports Premium Funding

PE and Sport Premium

The government is providing additional funding to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding is provided jointly by the Department for Education, Health and Culture and Media and Sport.

PE and Sport Premium funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.

Purpose of funding

Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this. Bedfont received £20,340 in 2024-25.

Digital expenditure reporting return

From 2025, all primary schools need to complete the digital expenditure reporting return for the 2024 to 2025 academic year. The return outlines:

  • how the school has used its PE and sport premium
  • the impact the premium has had on achieving the aims and objectives of the funding
