We hope that you are all looking forward to your last half term in Year 6 and the upcoming transition to secondary school!
This half term we will be studying Michael Morpurgo’s ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’. We will be using this text to support our writing lessons. We plan to create individual pieces of writing across different genres. We will be writing: instructions, non-chronological reports, balanced reports, character descriptions and informal letters. We will be also be reading ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar.
Our topics for this half term are Rivers and The Maya Civilisation. The children will be producing independent projects based on these areas and taking ownership of their learning.
All classes will have PE on Mondays and Fridays. Please ensure your child has the correct kit on these days. Lots of the children have been coming to school without a PE kit recently. Children will be unable to partake in PE lessons without kit. Please also ensure that your child brings an antiperspirant roll-on deodorant in their PE bag.
We will be focusing on our end-of-year production over the next month. All children will be involved in different ways – some as actors, some as dancers, some as stagehands, some as singers and some as technicians. The performance to parents will be on the 18th of July. We would love for as many of you to be there as possible.
Miss O’Hara, Mr Enright, Miss Foreman and Mrs Bissell.
