Welcome back! We hope that you had a lovely festive break and wish you all a happy new year. It is important that we all continue working hard towards SATs in May.
In English this term we will be studying ‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. We will be using these to support our Guided Reading and writing lessons. We plan to focus on teaching grammatical skills and using these in different pieces of writing. We will also be reading a class text linked to our Topic lessons. Spelling is very important and weekly spellings will be sent home. We will look at these with the children in class and would appreciate any support with learning these at home.
Maths lessons will follow the National Curriculum and will be in four differentiated groups. We will continue to focus on arithmetic and problem-solving skills. Please continue to help your child with these at home. Homework is sent home weekly and is expected to be completed on time.
Our topic for the first half of this term is the Victorians. We be learning about Queen Victoria, Victorian railways, inventions, schools, toys and art. Our Science topics for the second half of this term will be Electricity and Light.
All classes will have PE on Mondays. Hawk and Starling class also have PE on Fridays. Please ensure your child has the correct kit and that it is suitable for the weather conditions.
We look forward to meeting you at Parents’ Evening in February. You will need to book online for this. Please continue to work with your child at home and support them with their learning.
