Welcome back! We hope that you had a lovely festive break and wish everyone a happy new year.
In English this term we will be studying Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. We will be using this text to support our writing lessons. We plan to focus on teaching grammatical skills and using these to create individual pieces of writing. Spelling is as important as ever in the build up to SATs. We will continue to ask the children to learn spelling patterns, as well as the Year 5 and 6 Spelling List. We would appreciate any support with learning spellings at home.
Maths lessons will follow the National Curriculum and will be in five differentiated groups. This term we will be focusing on improving reasoning and problem solving skills. It is important that children continue to revise and embed mathematical understanding by practising at home, learning times tables and memorising key facts.
Our topic is The Victorians. We have planned a trip to the Victoria and Albert Museum to enhance the children’s understanding and we will learn about Britain between 1837 and 1901.
All classes will have PE on Mondays and Fridays. Please ensure your child has the correct kit on these days.
We look forward to meeting you at parents’ evening in February. You will need to book online for this. Please continue to work with your child at home and support them with their learning.
