Welcome back! We hope that you had a relaxing summer holiday. It is very important that we start working towards SATs now, so every lesson counts!
In English this half term we will be studying ‘The London Eye Mystery’. We will be using this text to support our Guided Reading and writing lessons. We plan to focus on teaching grammatical skills and using these in newspapers, biographies, narratives and non-fiction writing. We will also be reading ‘Fireweed’ by Jill Paton Walsh as our class text. Spelling is very important and weekly spellings will be sent home. We will look at these with the children in class and would appreciate any support with learning these at home.
Maths lessons will follow the National Curriculum and will be in four differentiated groups. There will be the possibility of movement between these groups at different stages of the year. This half term, we will be focusing on number and problem-solving skills. We would like all children to make sure they know their times tables off by heart!
Our topic is World War 2. We have planned a trip to the Science Museum to visit a secret exhibition and we be learning about the key events between 1939 and 1945. To celebrate our learning, we will be holding an exit point towards the end of the half term; you will be invited to attend.
All classes will have PE on Mondays. Please ensure your child has the correct kit and that it is suitable for the weather conditions.
We look forward to meeting you at parents’ evening in October. You will need to book online for this. Please continue to work with your child at home and support them with their learning.
