Welcome to our year 4 curriculum page (Spring 2020), we hope it provides you with the information you need to keep up to date with your child’s learning throughout the year. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask a member of staff.
This term we are focusing on our digital literacy topic. We have already watched the Disney film Aladdin (1992) and will be completing work based on the film. We will be writing the story opening focusing on dialogue, setting descriptions and the narrative of the story.
This term we will be focusing on multiplication and division. Later in the term we will start to look at fractions. The children will be sitting a multiplication test in June this year (up to 12x). It is vital that you are supporting your child at home with learning their multiplication facts.
For topic work this term, we will begin by learning about physical and human geography of countries around the world, using maps to identify different geographical features of continents, countries and cities. This will also have a focus on the United Kingdom.
Our focus this term is electricity. We will be learning about the dangers of electricity and how to stay safe. Making our own electrical circuits and understanding the different components that can be used to make a complete circuit.
It is very important that all children are prepared for learning, whether that is in class, or by making sure that they have the correct equipment for PE or swimming. All children should have their PE kit: a plain white t-shirt, shorts, tracksuit bottoms for outdoor PE (which will continue into winter unless it is wet), plimsolls and trainers in school.
Please remember your full swimming kit.
