Bedfont Primary School

Year 3

Welcome to Year 3

Hooray for the sunshine!  We hope you had a good Easter break and that you are now ready for the Summer term.  Swimming is well underway and the children are already progressing in their swimming and organisational skills – thank you for all your support in helping them prepare for this.  During our IPC Scavengers and Settlers topic, our learning will be enhanced by a visit from the Freshwater Theatre Company, where year three will travel back in time to find out about early human life and a trip to Bedfont Lakes Country Park, where a ranger will work with each class, discovering how early humans would have built shelters and having a go at the building ourselves.

Once again, thank you very much for your support – it makes all the difference for the children and for us! If you have any questions or concerns, please do come and speak to us at the end of the school day.

Swimming in Year 3

Throughout the Summer term and into year 4, our children will be taking part in a weekly swimming lesson.  This is an important part of the National Curriculum for PE - we use qualified instructors in a pool that is closed to the public.

We will also have a weekly PE lesson on a Wednesday.

PE will be taught by both the class teachers and our PE specialist, Mr Field.  Children will take part in a range of activities, from games and ball skills to dance and gymnastics.  Children will be required to wear dark shorts, white T-shirts and plimsolls when inside and can wear trainers when outside. Please make sure the children have the correct kit for these sessions. Long hair should be tied back. In line with our school uniform policy, the only earrings permitted are small plain studs. In the warmer weather, a hat may be advisable for PE, as well as a water bottle.
