Bedfont Primary School uses " Letters and Sounds" to teach children phonics. You can read more about Phonics here: https://new.phonicsplay.co.uk/parents/what-is-phonics In The Nursery, we focus on Phase One of Letters and Sounds which concentrates on developing children's speaking and listening skills and prepares them to learn letter sounds. The emphasis during Phase 1 is to tune children into the sounds around them and ensure they are ready to begin developing oral blending and segmenting skills. Phase 1 is divided into seven aspects. You can read about them here: http://www.letters-and-sounds.com/phase-1.html

Here are some games to help consolidate elements of phase 1, and over the next half term we will introduce a sound a week from the first group of letter sounds in the scheme we use.
