Primary School

New Nursery 2020-2021

Hello everyone!

Everyone at Bedfont Primary cannot wait to welcome you into our school family.

Hello everyone! My name is Mr Davis and I am the Headteacher of Bedfont Primary School. I am really looking forward to meeting you all and welcoming you to our Bedfont family. I will make sure you settle in to school life and enjoy each day at school.

Hello. My name is Mrs Swasbrook and I am the Deputy Headteacher here at Bedfont Primary School. A big part of my job is to make sure, with the teachers’ help, that all children feel happy and safe while at school. I am looking forward to meeting you all as you start your learning journey.

Hello my name is Mrs Dhani and I am the Assistant Headteacher of EYFS at Bedfont Primary school. Due to the current circumstances we are unable to carry out our induction to school in the normal way. However, your children will be starting school in September and even though things are uncertain at the moment, but this doesn’t need to affect the way you talk about transition your children. They don’t need to know that things aren’t happening the way they would do normally. The conversation can be as simple as “we’re waiting for a message to tell us when you’re going to start school, isn’t that really exciting?” And it is really exciting, for them and for their school. We can’t wait to meet them. One thing to remember is that pre-schoolers don’t need to do lots of what you might think of as schoolwork at home before they start. My Early Years team will always say that getting dressed and undressed and using the toilet independently are key skills which can be encouraged at home. The simple things can be really helpful, too: getting familiar with numbers, letters and sounds, singing nursery rhymes, and just doing things with your children like baking, getting out in the garden if you have one and simply chatting with them.

Please be assured that we will be doing all we can to keep you up to date regarding transition processes before your child joins our school. Although we know some of these processes may need to differ somewhat to previous years, we are committed to ensuring that the children joining us in Nursery experience a smooth transition into our setting.
