Newsletter 1

Welcome to our first lockdown newsletter. I realise that this is a worrying time for everyone but just because we cannot be in the same physical space does not mean we cannot still support each other, and it is needed now more than ever.  I hope you are well and staying safe and have been enjoying learning at home. I have found it a little bit tricky but setting myself, a timetable to follow has helped.

Partial Opening continues for a very small number of pupils, school will remain open. Government guidance is clear, every child who can be safely cared for at home should be. However, child care is available for pupils with EHCPs, vulnerable pupils (eg with social workers) and for pupils whose parents are critical workers. If you think you are eligible and need childcare because there is no one available at home to help you please let the Office know by email. The link below gives parents and carers the government guidance on school provision during the Coronavirus emergency. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/closure-of-educational-settings-information-forparents-and-carers

I wanted to congratulate all the children that have been completing activities that have been set during our enforced break. I loved the posters for NHS and care workers. I am sure you give them a big clap each week.

We have made lots of changes to our website to support parents and children. I would especially signpost you all to our mental health section and our online safety section ‘Think u Know’ . We update these weekly but do email the school office if we can help further. This is not an easy time and a problem shared is a problem halved.

I have personally fallen in love with the penguins at Edinburgh Zoo. Please take a look. Unfortunately, we cannot invite them into school. Follow this link to say hello.  Edinburgh Zoo - Live streams: Panda Cam  /  Tiger Cam  /  Penguin Cam  /  Rock Hopper Penguin Cam  /  Koala Cam.

We have collated a list of exciting websites on our ‘Useful websites’ tab. The link can be found below.

Mrs Laffoley-Green has uploaded a story which I really enjoyed too. Keep an eye out as more stories will follow.

Please continue to send your work to class teachers on your class email address.

We miss you all and can’t wait to see you all soon.
