Why work at Bedfont?

We are a friendly community school with fantastic children, supportive parents and enthusiastic teachers.
We have excellent facilities, including a wonderful library, sports facilities and our brand new Key Stage 2 toilets are amazing!
We believe in "growing our own".  Many of our leaders started at the school as NQTs or classteachers.  Read some profiles below.

Staff Profile - Miss R. Love

I have been very fortunate to train to teach at Bedfont Primary School; it has provided a structured path for my development combined with high quality support throughout both my training and NQT year.

Since beginning to work at Bedfont Primary School, I have been afforded many opportunities; both in school and out of school, to attend training courses that have been both relevant to my development needs and aligned with my future career goals. This has included being able to attend training courses on literacy and phonics, run through a national provider, having previously identified this as an area to enhance my practice through one to one conversations with my mentor.  The school has also actively sought out relevant opportunities and as such I have been able to observe outstanding practice in Singapore Maths and Talk for Writing at schools that have positively influenced my development as an effective practitioner.  Outside the classroom, there are also additional opportunities for staff to further develop their relationships with children from across the school. Indeed this year, I have been involved in some coaching sessions with the senior netball team as well as accompanying them to a local competition.

 Throughout my time at Bedfont, I have felt highly valued as a member of staff.  Alongside ongoing professional development, Bedfont place a strong emphasis on promoting staff wellbeing and work life balance, which was particularly pertinent in the early stages of my career. Significantly, it has been an empowering environment for me to make a positive impact because the culture of trust and open feedback has instilled a confidence in me to be an innovative practitioner. 

Staff Profile - Mrs K. Sachdeva

Bedfont Primary has been a supportive and innovative environment to work in over the last few years. I have enjoyed working with supportive and friendly teams that are always keen to learn and support the children to be the best they can be.

As KS1 lead and Assistant Headteacher for Innovation, I have always been supported in developing how we teach and to cater for the children in our school. There is a culture of collaboration that supports staff and their wellbeing. Staff are encouraged to try new approaches to maximise their impact on pupil learning.

The school has always maintained a calm and friendly atmosphere with good relationships between all adults and pupils. It has been a great place to work and continue to develop as a teacher and leader.  

Staff Profile - Mr C. McAllan

Having moved to Bedfont from another local school 6 years ago, I have developed as a teacher in a wider range than I had thought possible. Not only have I been supported in developing my teaching, but also my wider role within the school.

Having the had opportunity to support colleagues in my role as computing co-ordinator, I then delivered training to borough NQTs at sessions hosted at Bedfont. Support from SLT and colleagues across the school enabled me to have the confidence to deliver this training.

As my role continued to develop, an opportunity arose to apply for the position of Assistant Headteacher. Colleagues were very supportive in my application and encouraged me to go ahead, and I have been in role for the last couple of years. This year I have started the NPQSL course, developing my leadership skills and further enabling me to build my role in the school.
