Pupil Premium Grant

The Pupil Premium is funding schools receive for each child who is eligible for free school meals or who is a looked after child. The policy is available on the policies tab. The policy will be reviewed in Autumn 2017.

The principles by which Pupil Premium funding is allocated

  • We ensure that teaching and learning is closely matched to meet the needs of all pupils and that appropriate provision is made for all children who are underachieving.

  • The Pupil Premium enables us to offer more targeted provision to pupils who may belong to vulnerable groups.

  • In making provision for socially disadvantaged pupils, we recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged.  Many of our FSM children achieve well.  Conversely there may be other pupils living in economically deprived families who have not taken up FSM, and that children who are not in receipt of FSM may also need additional support.

  • We recognise that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for free school meals.

Priorities

  • To ensure that all pupils receive well planned support to reach their individual targets in literacy and numeracy.

  • To ensure that our pupils have access to a broad and balanced range of opportunities across the whole curriculum, which they might not otherwise be able to access.

  • To improve attendance and punctuality for those entitled to Pupil Premium.
